Sandwich, Kent

This Grade II listed house in Sandwich, Kent, is one that epitomises organic development. It is a house that has grown around itself rather like a snail. Starting from an early 17C cottage core, it first expanded sideways in the 18C with a clever readjustment of the rear facade. In the 19C the hosue was then expanded towards the High Street with a formal symmetircal front facade, which in turn was modifed in the early 20C by modifying one of the frontrooms into a glass fronted shop. Our job is to create a sense of connection and flow between the ground floor spaces for family life and entertaining, and for upstairs to reconfigure the bedroom and bathroom arrangements. Listed Building Consent has been granted. |
